Bus Art
2014 was a busy year for the buses in London which celebrated TfL’s (Transport for London) Year of the Bus.
Boris Johnson, Mayor of London at the time, was launching the new design of the infamous red bus.
The new Routemaster buses that are replacing other older models combine the original Routemaster design of the bus from the 1950s and 60s with three entrances / exits but have a sleek modern finish.

In view of this, 60 mini sculptures of the London Bus were hand painted by artists and were displayed on four walking art trails: Around Westminster, Around the River, Around the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and Croydon.
They were later auctioned off for the benefit of Kids Company, Transaid and London Transport Museum.
In this photo gallery you can see photos of some these beautiful hand-painted bus sculptures which merge graciously budding British talents and recognized world-wide British icon - the London Bus.
