London bridges, of course, provide great spots for taking panoramic photos of London but they are not a bad subject of a photograph themselves!
The river Thames splits the City into two relatively equal parts with the London bridges linking up the northern and southern parts of the capital.
They are almost the central backbone to the city.
Yet, it is amusing to think that only a century and a half ago, London, so much smaller that it is now occupied mostly the northern part and bridges were considered the periphery, outskirts, suburbs...

We also take the bridges for granted. And even though, it was unpopular amongst users at the time and certainly did not last as a practice, many bridges had tolls, so you actually had to pay to cross one.
